Are inscriptions secondary in importance compared to literature? Not certainly as sources for history! Inscriptions change history and how we can tell it continuously. A new reading of an old stone on the basis of new finds can shed light on a lot of misconceptions about the past. And there are indeed a number of V.I.Ins. (Very Important Inscriptions) with high historical significance as well as inscriptions which have a curious or remarkable reception history. In this room of the exhibition you will find just a few examples of these.
