Nel campo dei beni culturali, le opportunità offerte dalle tecnologie per la conservazione e la fruizione del patrimonio culturale hanno aperto scenari di grande interesse che però richiedono atteggiamenti nuovi da parte di tutti gli attori coinvolti: enti pubblici, imprese private, operatori del settore.
L’evento organizzato da EAGLE, Europeana network of Ancient Greek and Latin Epigraphy e Wikimedia Italia, con il supporto della Soprintendenza Speciale per i Beni Archeologici di Roma, è volto a discutere come le più evolute tecnologie possano favorire nuove modalità di comunicazione e valorizzazione dei beni culturali e in particolare di materiali sotto gli occhi di tutti, ma spesso poco noti, come appunto le iscrizioni antiche che costituiscono un patrimonio unico nel panorama europeo e del bacino del Mediterraneo.
In chiusura dell’evento, verranno proclamati e premiati i vincitori del Premio Speciale EAGLE per Wiki Loves Monuments Italia per la migliore fotografia di iscrizioni antiche presenti in uno qualsiasi dei monumenti partecipanti al concorso. Il premio e’ stato istituito per promuovere il valore testimoniale intrinseco alle epigrafi e fare in modo che questo patrimonio emerga e abbia la visibilità che merita.
L’evento si terra’ a Roma il 16 Maggio 2014 presso la Sala Conferenze di Palazzo Massimo alle Terme.

The opportunities offered by modern technology for the safeguarding and fruition of cultural heritage are virtually boundless, yet their successful implementation requires that all players involved (public institutions, private sector, sector operators) adopt new attitudes.
This event, organised by EAGLE (Europeana network of Ancient Greek and Latin Epigraphy) and Wikimedia Italia with the support of Soprintendenza Speciale per i Beni Archeologici di Roma, aims to serve as a platform for sharing knowledge and good practices while stimulating reflections on the role of digital technologies in the preservation and promotion of cultural digital heritage.
At the end of the event, the winners of Special EAGLE prize for WikiLovesMonuments Italy will be announced. An award will be given for the best photograph of an ancient inscription within a participating monument of the WikiLovesMonuments contest.
Special EAGLE prize for WikiLovesMonuments Italy seeks to promote the intrinsic testimonial value of inscriptions and to do so in such a way that this patrimony, which exists right under the eyes of the world yet often goes barely noticed, emerges and gains the visibility that it deserves.
